Golf Course Superintendent
Bryan Cannan began his career at Worthington Country Club as the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent in May of 1995. He accepted the Golf Course Superintendent position in January of 1996. Bryan manages the daily maintenance operations of the golf course, supervises all chemical and fertilizer application, ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws, inspects and recommends common ground crews; hires and trains the maintenance staff and supervises the maintenance of 5 tennis courts and 2 bocce ball courts. Prior to Worthington Country Club, Bryan worked as an Irrigation Technician for 10 years at the the Quality Inn Golf and Country Club. Bryan earned an Associate in Science – Golf Course Operations degree from Lake City Community College in 1995 while completing on- the- job training at Southampton Country Club and Olde Florida Golf Club.
Bryan is also a Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS). A CGCS is a prestigious designation only awarded to those that have voluntarily met the rigorous requirements set forth by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) in order to receive the professional distinction of CGCS. Other professional affiliations include being a member of the Florida Turfgrass Association (FTGA), and he serves on the local Board of Directors for the Everglades Golf Course Superintendents Association, (EGCSA).
